Disable Task Manager in C# on the Vista OS

Question

Hello everyone. I'm trying to create a secure program in C#, and my hurdle is trying to prevent the user from accessing the Task Manager, to stop them from closing the program and accessing Windows. The problem I've had is all the topics online on how to do this are only texted in XP, and don't work on Vista. So I'm kind of stuck. Can anyone help me please?

This works in vista and windows 7 however i replaced CloseWindow() With SendMessage() this is how [DllImport(user32.dll)] public static extern IntPtr FindWindow(string lpclass string lpname); public const int WM_COMMAND = 0x0112; public const int WM_CLOSE = 0xF060; [DllImport(user32.dll)] public static extern int SendMessage(int hWnd uint Msg int wParam int lParam); then in the thread replace the close window with SendMessage(hwndtskm.ToInt32() WM_COMMAND WM_CLOSE 0); then it will close instead of minimizing

Hi use my code to do thisjust add this registry code with your c# In your registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ System set DisableTaskMgr value to 1 first you have to create a key in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ named: System with a subkey(REG_DWORD) named DisableTaskMgr with value set to 1 thank you

I'll try it again. But I've used that code from the link you sent me and it does not work when I run the EXE as Administrator. I don't know why but it just doesn't. I do not have experience working with registries so I don't know what is wrong and why it won't work.

I often modify registies in Vista using Administrator account and does not meet any problem. Make sure you do it right.

I have tried that and unfortunately I get the same result. It just doesn't work. I know there are lots of restrictions to get around in Vista but I need to get around those.

Hello guy there's much more restrictions when are accessing them in Vista due to high security level. I suggest you run the application under administrator accounts or run as administrator.

@Jinge I have seen that article many times. And unfortunately that method of disabling Ctrl Alt Del does not work in Vista. It won't let me access the registry.

All this ends up doing is minimizing it in the taskbar. And my problem is when it does that it also exposes the windows task bar to the user and I can't ever let that happen. If there was a way to have this happen without letting the user see the taskbar that would be great.

It is not for malicious purposes. It is actually for a security program for children to protect them from getting into harmful sections of windows and browsing websites that can contain unsuitable material. I don't do viruses. :) Thanks.
