frame relay consists of an efficient data transmission technique used to send digital information quickly and cheaply. It is a message forwarding "relay race" like system in which data packets, called frames, are passed from one or many start-points to one or many destinations via a series of intermediate node points.

1 Frame Relay is packet switched technology

2 Frame Relay work on Data link and physical Layer.

3 Frame relay is similary like Leased line but ur shareing with some one .

4 when u transmitt a data over Frame relay it will be haveing one DLCI (Data link connection identifier )by which u can find out where is ur packet in the entire shared bandwidth.

5 The best example of frame relay is the ISDN(Integrated Subscriber Digital Network) where the link is always on but ur charged only when ur connected as well as the link is also used by some others also.

This is a purely switched network where there numerous packest form many user as well as many different networks which ur not at all aware of.But ur packet will be haveing one unique Identifier and this how its transmitted to the destination with ur name .thsi how the circuit is completed.

for more information plz do vist cisco site .
