VB.net application that takes forever to load and run

Question

Help I have this application in vb.net with more than 100 forms. The application takes nearly 3 minutes to load and the performance is terrible. The PC I run the application from have the following specs: pentium 4 3.0 with 512MB Ram. Question how do I split up the application into smaller chunks dll or whatever to speed up the loading and conserver memory? Thanks

You could try creating a class library and add your forms as existing items. Then create the forms dynamically from a small launcher exe. I have to do something like this to interacte with a legacy menu system in the works application. I used something like In the launcher Dim o As Object = CreateObject(DLLNAME.frmNAME) o.loadandshow() In the form Public sub LoadAndShow() Try me.show catch messagebox.show(Could not load form:  & me.name) end try end sub The downside is that I had to add a public sub LoadAndShow to each form for the VB6 app to fire to show my form. But I suppose if you launcher was .Net then you could just use o.Show. We have way more than 500 forms and it loads in 5 seconds. (AMD 1700+ 756mb ram). Cheers Si
