Using a Serial Number in deployment

Question

Does anyone know how to use the Serial Number property in the Customer Information custom dialog box. I'm just not sure as to where I am supposed to get the valid Serial Numbers, nor am I sure as to how i can make it check. Frick Balls. I don't know who can help me
