User Control Disappears from Design View

Question

We are developing user controls and have found this problem to exist with each one. The control can be dropped on the form and it is fine. As soon as we start debugging the control disappears from the designer. Has anyone run into this problem and is there a fix for it. Thanks Cathy

I have writen a couple of user controls and found them dropping from the form. After some checking I found that I must a constructor that does not take any paramters. It appears the form designer uses this to draw the controls on the screen.

I've had the same types of problems when developing user controls I think this is just a VS.NET bug...

I've had this happen. The only way I could control it is take my code out of the InitializeComponent and put it in its own method and call it from the constructor. It makes maintenance ugly but eliminates the issue of it disappearing.

I've also had this problem recently and I'm not sure what causes it. I think it is linked to changing the user control's code signatures but can't guarantee it. -Mike G.
