USB with C#

Hi,
   I have absolutely no experience dealing with USB in any language at all, so I don't even know enough about it to ask any questions but one.  I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good resources, or tutorials on dealing with USB in C# (hopefully in Visual Studio 2008 .net framework 3.5).  In the end I basically want to be able to have a PIC microcontroller communicate with the computer through USB but not use one of those serial to USB converters.  Thanks for your time.
