Upgrading application mail client from MS exchange to Outlook

Hi All,

Our application sends/receives files to third party using the MS exchange mail client. Now we would like to upgrade it to outlook as exchange does not have auto-archiving facilities. Has anyone worked on similar stuff?
Any detail would be appreciated.
