Two questions related to MySQL and DB

Hi everyone, I have two questions database related questions, 1)How to connected remote MySQL database!? Located within my website. 2)How to connect a database file with .db extension? This is a local site. What I am trying to achieve is, get data from remote MySQL database and insert into a .db database file. Thanx
