Question

I didn't know for sure where to post this...but does anyone have any suggestions on what I should use with C# to get access to my serial ports?

I've done the next thing. I know it's probably not the best way but it works well. I guess you are working in visual studio.net If you have visual studio 6.0 installed or a version of visual basic (not the .net version) you can use the MSComm component in visual studio.net. To add him to your toolbox shose: 'Customize Toolbox' in the Tools menu. On the 'COM components' tabpage click 'Browse' and go to your 'system32' folder. Select MSCOMM32.ocx in this folder. Click 'open' and the Microsoft Communication Control will be added to the list. Select this conctrol and press 'ok'. The telefoonicon in the toolbox is the comcomponent. It's working in the same way as in visual basic. I tried it without installing a visual basic version and only with the MSCOMM32.ocx file but then I get a message when I want to include it that says something about registering the component. I don't know what to do so I reinstalled visual basic 6.0 and it works. I hope it works and if it's not ask me for some code. Streuvels
