Image Problems!

Question

Hey, this is my first post here, name is Engale and my problems are with me programming or trying to program a "map". This is the way that I'm trying to get it to work, there are two images, one the map the second the character, the character will be placed over the map. Now to get the character to move to the right we want the map to move left. Transparancies are a problem and the moving of the images is also a problem. Help!
