How to release memory used by child forms in multi form c# app?

Question

Hello all I really hope that here i can find some help tnx. I`m building a multi form c# application it has lots of forms opened in a parent form. The problem is that when i open a child form memory jumps from 15MB to 20MB i close that child form memory stays on 20MB i open same form again memory jumps to 25MB etc. same goes for other forms so my question is how can i optimize memory usage of my application (how can i release the memory used by my forms when i close them). I hope some1 will find a bit of his time to help me tnx.

The Task Manager works correctly the way it is designed to be used. It was not designed as a programming diagnostic tool. It can be used for that but we need to know what it is and is not capable of. For measuring memory usage i`v used only Windows task manager never tought that its not working right. Is there some other better tool or you think i should take out some memory sticks and see if windows will free up memory when it becomes full?

Unfortunately memory in Windows is not as simple as we would prefer. You might not be using the best tool for determining how much memory is being used. Assuming you have ample memory Windows might not bother to free up memory just because it does not need to. Are you sure you are using a tool designed to be used to determine memory used in application programs?

Sadly using GC.collect(); method ain`t working. I`v tried using GC.RemoveMemoryPressure(); method but nope it just won`t do. :( looks like ill have to make all forms a separate applications and than run them in one form using windows API (what i don`t rly like).

Hi friend When you dispose an object in becomes unavailable to you. But the memory is still allocated until the next GC cycle. So you will have to collet GC.Collect() after disposing the objects. But cannot gurantee the outcome of calling that method. :) If you find this useful please do not forget to mark as accepted.

Nope using this.dispose(); just ain't working :( I`v tried using that and tried disposing every single object on the form but it`s not working memory doesen`t fall down when i close the form but it rises when i open same form again..
