How to get modified rows from a datagrid when the changes are made on the editable datagrid itself

Question

I have a datagrid bound to a datatable  which has customized table style. I display the editable datagrid. I modify some rows ( say row 1 5 and 6 ) on the datagrid from the interface. Now I would like to get this set of modified rows in the program. Somehow followoing methods are not working for me ? Method : 1 (objDRow.RowState = DataRowState.Modified) Dim objDRow As DataRow For Each objDRow In MyDataSet.Tables(MyTable).Rows If (objDRow.RowState = DataRowState.Modified) Then 'get value of that modified cell End If Next Method- 2 I tried to use dataview using Dim dview As New DataView(MyDataSet.Tables(MyTable)) dview.RowStateFilter = DataViewRowState.ModifiedOriginal And then iterating through each row of view thinking that I get modified rows here..but does not wrok Method- 3 I tried to use following comarison objDRow.Item(2 DataRowVersion.Original) objDRow.Item(2 DataRowVersion.Current) not working. But surprisingly if you change the row value through code : it marks the row as modified row. for example objDRow.Item(2) = xtz <-------- i am changing the value here progrmmatically. Now if I do MsgBox(objDRow.RowState) then the state is modified ??? So the question is how do we detect mdofied rows ( or cells ) on datagrid rows when changes are made through visual interface I mean directly from editing datagrid ?? Please if anyone knows let me know asap. Thanks.

The datagrid bound to the datatable changes datarow contents. You want to use datatable.select(rowchanged) method call to return an array of datarows then cycle through that array. This code fragment is not exact look it up in Help. I use it in VB.NET and it works fine.

All Your tricks from post no 1 should work so I try to find en error in Your code. Try to check datatable content with WriteXml(file XmlWriteMode.DiffGram): myDataSet.WriteXml(c:\myfile.xml XmlWriteMode.DiffGram); and analyze results first. It' very usable. Original inserted modified etc. records will be visible in the file. If no - You modify another table than You want.

Frankly I am not quite understanding what you are mentioning. But what I would like to know is following. Datagrid is bound to a datatable. My question is : how do we know whether that value has been modified or not. For example Datagrid is filled up like this: ID First Name Last Name 1 James Howard 2 Dome Hopkins now if I change the value of James to Nicole from the interface and change the value of Dome to Simon  how do I know progrmmatically that my row value has changed that the original value in row 1 anc column 2 was James but now it is Nicole and likewise in row2. Note that : If someone Deletes James and retype James  then what I would like to internally is No change in the row i.e original value of cell(21) is same as new value  eventhough user has made changes on the row. so my main concern is to find out : how to detect original and changed value on a datagrid cell when the changes are made on the grid and not progrmmatically inside the code as I stated in my earlier exaplanation.

Are You sure that the object which You check is theseame with the object used by DataGrid? What do You bind into DataGrid (DataSet DataTable DataView)? Try to check it's content with WriteXml(file XmlWriteMode.DiffGram) for instance. You can get proper object binded into DataGrid using protected (sh*t !!!) property ListManager.List (so - only in inherited object).
