how to design a hover sub menu?

hi all,

i need to design a sub menu on hover of the one of the menu option. I have place the menu horizontally in the page. now on hover of an option of the menu i need to show the submenu vertically.
HOpe i get the solution as soon as possible.
if possible plz send me the sample css code.
