How to Compress and archive an SQL database using visual c# .net

Question

Hi, i'm working on a project right now. I was assigned to make a windows service using visual c# .net that will compress and archive a certain table in an SQL database. I'm quite new to visual c# .net , can I just ask what commands/statements I can use to compress and archive a table using c#? I also don't know how to connect to a database using c#, please help me..thanks and God bless. Dyan
