extract tabula data from pdf file to excel

Hi , there or many examples of reading pdf file and converting pdf to word. but the most interesting and challenging job for software engineers is to extract tabular data from pdf file and store in excel format. If any one who can do this or can give some idea, please write to me ...... would be appreciated... thanks
