Error when I drop a SplitterPanel onto a Panel

Hi
I have downloaded the VS C# express version.
I have started a Windows Form project and added a panel to the form. I then drop a SplitterPanel onto the form and the designer generates the following error.
System.ArgumentException: Font 'Arial' does not support Regular.
I am running on a Windows XP sp3 PC
I can see that the Arial font is installed and I can use it in documents without any issues.
Is anyone aware of any work arounds?
