difficulty creating dataobjects

I am migrating from ASP to ASP.net and am having difficulty creating datasets and datareaders....The listing I have from reference books dont seem to work with the actual ASP.net environment...like when I type the book has a line thus: dim dsshops as new odbcdatareader but in the IDE of .net you only have dim......new odbc.odbcdatareader and then after accepting the line of code, a curly underscore appears under dsshops saying that it is private in this context and cannot be referenced Can anyone help me out Can you put this code in a command button?

yes stefan the IDE first gives you odbc and then after pressing the period odbcdatareader

Well I'm not really into VB.net but dim dsshops as new odbcdatareader seems to be OK. I think that this is the right way to declare and initialize a variable. What is dim......new odbc.odbcdatareader ? Is it autogenerated? It's no problem to put this code in a command button onclick event.
