Dataset or not to dataset

Question

Okay i am expecting a largish thread but i will have to ask the question I know that opinion on this is pretty evenly divided on the whole issue so i am looking for pearls of widom to swing one way or the other so to get to the question which to use. strongly typed datasets or form of pseudo strong collections, which have numerous public property, and data is marshalled around using these instead of datasets. some guidance or opinions more like it on this would be appreciated cheers keith

I personally prefer implementing my own collections that firmly wrap the business objects. The resulting code is much cleaner self describing etc. But you have to write plenty of code to implement databinding and also I guess that this isn't good for performance critic applications.
