data Form Wizard

Question

I have created a form using the data form wizard and I am not able to delete any records. I am receiving the following error: update requires a valid Delete command when passed Data Rows collection with deleted Rows. I'm using the free form instead of the datagrid. I'm also using VS.Net 2003 Any thoughts on how to correct this.

OK. I finally figured it out. When a record is deleted it is merely marked as such. It is still in memory and yes you can still access it. The reason is that a data adapter might need to check the status of the record to do it's thing. For instance a record in the table is really deleted and a data adapter is subsequently called how does the data adapter know that the delete command is needed? If the record is marked then the DA can issue the delete command for the record and then call for the record to be finalized. If you are sure that you are not going to need the row you can can call the Datarow.AcceptChanges method yourself.

When you go to the Add New Item it takes you to a form of templates and wizards. There is a Data Form Wizard there. I was using the code as is. All the connections and everything else is working correctly. What it is doing is using a tempoary dataset and up you update it trys to update the main table. I notice on the adapter that there is not a deletecomand specified. how does ADO handled deleted records from a temporary dataset?

What data form wizard are you using? Do you mean a data adapter wizard from the data tab of the toolbox? Also it might help tremendously if you posted a snippet of the code that is giving you trouble. Darren
