call the webservices through window application without using add references tab

Hai Friends,
I am new to this group,
Currently i am workin in window application.
my doubt is:
how do i get values from a webservice ,that i am calling through window application(vb.net)
i think there are 2 way
1) is to use add references tab
2)using hhtprequest

i want to know how to do it with Http type ie(through coding)
i need to call the webservices through window application without using add references tab
