C# for the web??

Question

Hi

Im currently learning C# and was wondering if this is the language for me? In my opinion most applications are moving towards the web. For example, I will never touch ms office again since there are free versions like open office and googles tiny office with their cloud service. Of course these applications does not offer as many features as ms does but are more than sufficient for me. And one important thing is that you do not have to install tons of apps and files on your computer before you use the programs.

I understand that java is suitable for this but how is it with C#?? That is, if i want to develop applications that are used in the browser? Is it asp that i have to use and if so, isnt all asp apps run on the server and not the client? And if asp is what i have to use, am i able to do all sorts of apps with it like paint apps, game aps, word processing apps and so on??

Hi Peter This is was one of the main features of C# language that you can design any kind of applications using C# including Web Windows client or mobile. These days C# is being used to write all kind of Web applications with the help of front ends like ASP.NET or Silverlight. Hope it helps!

hi friend for web applications you should be sound enough in HTML JavaScript DOM Elemets for handling the browser/Client side things for server side you can use any language e.g. Java/C# but accrodingly you have learn other things also associated with these languages. Also you are talking about the Asp. so be clear with it Asp and Asp.net there are two technologies. Asp also known as Asp Classic and is able to serve server code itself where as Asp.net needs C# or other .net language for server side logics. hope my ideas will you give you some clarity on your query.
