Applying Font properties to a string

Question

I have a University project and I have to make a Code Text Editor with the ability to Highlight the Reserved words at the same time they are typed like Visual Studio or Notepad++, but I don't know how to start this!. If someone knows how to do this I will Thank your Answer... Please.
